1st Annual Hong Kong On Screen Film Festival, April 2023
Hong Kong On Screen Film Festival (HKOSFF) serves as a platform to champion the Hongkonger experience in cinema. HKOSFF will empower filmmakers to tell and share Hongkongers’ stories by showcasing their unique works. We proudly advocate for inclusive, diverse, and progressive cinematic storytelling about the Hongkonger identity. We invite you and all other visionary filmmakers to submit your project for consideration in the first edition of HKOSFF.
Submissions to the Hong Kong On Screen Film Festival are open until December 31, 2022. HKOSFF 2023 is seeking innovative, original, and thought-provoking works that are “by,” “about,” or “for” the Hong Kong community around the world, and have been completed within the last THREE years.
Submissions must fulfill ONE of the following conditions:
One of the creative talents (director, screenplay, editor, actor/actress) must be an HKID holder, or one of the creative talents’ parents is an HKID holder;
One of the creative talents (director, screenplay, editor, actor/actress) speaks Cantonese;
The speaking language in the film is primarily or predominantly in Cantonese;
The shooting location was in Hong Kong;
The film story is about Hong Kong.
*** Filmmakers who commit to attending the in-person post-screening discussion will receive the priority of consideration.
