About the Channel:
Welcome to my channel! I am Aubrey, a published creative writer, an academic, and a vocalist who grew up in Hong Kong. My channel features the composition of what I consider the golden period of Cantopop (the 1980s to 1990s) and presents it with my English lyrics. Ranging from the legendary Joseph Koo to pop bands like Tai Chi, and Raidas, the lost tradition of composition once not only mesmerized countless souls in colonial Hong Kong but also moved fans in Mainland China, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. To make this musical tradition more accessible to English-speaking audiences, I do not translate but transform the classics into cover versions with new interpretations.
