💫💫💫 銀幕·香港很榮幸跟香港XR博物館一起參與這個名為「留住昨天 - 回到利舞臺VR」的計劃。
香港電影歷史不單止一直無太多人問津，基於歷史資料缺乏，加上當我們不再把電影歷史視為一個「國家電影」時，電影歷史發展不單是一個跨國性歷史（美國、中國、台灣、日本、南洋、歐洲等），還是一個跨媒介跨文化／學系的歷史（文學、戲曲、戲劇、音樂、政治等）。因此，要求研究者不單要通外語，還要有一定的文化程度。由於這些因素，香港還沒有一本真正學術嚴謹，不偏不倚的香港電影歷史書。
HKOS今次跟香港XR博物館合作，邀請了著名香港影評人和香港電影專家蒲鋒，嘗試用現存和最新的資料，融會貫通，理疏一些歷史疑案。 我們製作的Podcast不是學術論文，未達到真正的研究水準，但希望我們跟蒲鋒的對話，可以拋磚引玉，引起更多人注意，加入這個研究工作。
💫💫💫 Hong Kong On Screen is honored to collaborate with Hong Kong XR Museum to work on the “Preserve Yesterday - Back to Lee Theatre VR” project.
The history of Hong Kong cinema has not been widely studied. Due to a lack of historical data and when we are shifting away from viewing the film history as a "national cinema," the development of Hong Kong film history is not only a transnational history (involving the United States, China, Taiwan, Japan, Southeast Asia, Europe, etc.), but also a cross-media and cross-cultural/history discipline (involving literature, opera, drama, music, politics, etc.). Therefore, researchers are required not only to be proficient in foreign languages but also to have a certain level of cultural knowledge. Due to these factors, Hong Kong has yet to produce a genuinely academic and impartial history of Hong Kong cinema.
In collaboration with the Hong Kong XR Museum, HKOS has invited renowned Hong Kong film critic and cinema expert Po Fung to use current and up-to-date information to clarify some historical mysteries. Our podcast is not an academic paper and has not reached the level of research, but we hope that our conversation with Poon Fong can inspire more people to pay attention to this research and join in this effort.

The key to the dispute over Hong Kong cinema and the formation of the Hong Kong film industry
2009年香港政府曾大張旗鼓舉辦了多項慶祝香港電影100年的活動，最有意義也最反諷的一項活動是香港電影資料館在年底舉辦的一次學術研討會，因為有學者在會上提出有力證據，一百年之前的1909年那一年並沒有拍出第一部香港電影，第一部香港電影應該出現在1914年。第一部香港電影的討論是件既有趣也深具啟發性的歷史考據。出現了第一部電影並不等於會出現一個興旺的影業。香港能在1930年代發展出一個僅次於上海的華語電影影業，實受著中國政治、經濟、文化等因素強烈影響，其中邵氏兄弟又起著至今還未被足夠認真看待的重要作用。
The Hong Kong government commemorated the centenary of the Hong Kong cinematic industry with a range of activities in 2019. Perhaps the most significant yet ironic event was the academic symposium held by the Hong Kong Film Archive at the end of the year. In the symposium, a scholar presented concrete evidence to challenge the long-held consensus that the first Hong Kong film was produced in 1909. Instead, the scholar suggested the first film was produced five years later, in 1914. This discussion was an exciting and thought-provoking example of a scholarly endeavor in Hong Kong’s cinematic history.
While the first film marked a milestone in Hong Kong history, it did not suggest the industry was vibrant during the initial stage. In the 1930s, Hong Kong finally established its Mandarin film industry, only second to Shanghai. Its development could be attributed to various factors, including Chinese politics, economy, and culture. In part, Shaw Brothers Studio, a local film production company, played an influential yet less-known role in the industry.
