In Leslie Cheung’s song SUPERSTAR, the lyrics said “When you look at the stars in the sky, will you think of me?” 20 years have passed, and we still remember the late beloved singers, performers, artists, and giants Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung.

Anita Mui, dubbed “the daughter of Hong Kong '' and “Madonna of Asia,” is considered to be the canton pop queen in Hong Kong. She has been nominated and awarded best actress numerous times.

And Leslie Cheung was one of the most prominent pioneers of Cantonpop, helping to shape its identity during the 1980s, and achieved widespread recognition as an actor in the 1990s.

Both Anita Mui and Leslie Cheung are icons representing the golden period of Hong Kong film.Their existence was one of the finest the industry could ever hope to offer, and their work is still making an impact 20 years since their passing. They are part of Hong Kong.

In the first season of Hong Kong On Screen Film Festival, we want to honor their contributions to the entertainment industry in Hong Kong by showcasing a few of their best movies.
